For Sybil, the matriarch (Diane Keaton) of the rather laidback Stone family, precious are the moments with her children gathering in New England; together at home for the holidays. As they arrive, they are all anticipating that the eldest son will be bringing his girlfriend (Sarah Jessica Parker) along, and will be asking her to marry him. It does not go smoothly. Cultures and personalities clash. Everyone is forced to re-evaluate their motivations. Other cast includes Claire Danes, Rachel McAdams, Dermot Mulrony, Craig T. Nelson and Luke Wilson.
